DAY 9: NGORONGORO CRATER TO ZANZIBAR (FLIGHT INCLUDED)
The Ngorongoro Crater is a massive, unbroken volcanic caldera located in northern Tanzania, within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Formed about 2 to 3 million years ago when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed, the crater is now a self-contained ecosystem teeming with wildlife. Descend over 600 meters (2,000 feet) deep in to the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is often called “Africa’s Eden” because of its incredible density of wildlife. It’s home to Big Five as lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. The large herds of zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, hippos including predators such as cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals.
